We held our first afternoon tea event at the beautiful Parkway Hotel in Cwmbran yesterday.
After networking over teas and coffees, our director Heather began procedures and, more importantly, called for the cakes to be brought to the tables.
The food was absolutely delicious, we couldn’t recommend the Parkway Hotel enough. Our particular favourite was the Welsh cake… or maybe the scone… or maybe the lemon meringue.. Luckily the Parkway gave us boxes to take home anything not eaten so we could sample it all.
After we had eaten, our president Liz Maher introduced our special guest speaker who was winner of the President’s Award at our Annual Business event 2016 and CEO of Torfaen Leisure Trust Sally Church.
Sally Church gave a inspiring, thoughtful and heartfelt speech regarding her career. She spoke of the times she was passed up for promotion on the basis of being a woman, how we was seen as a maverick in the public sector just because she asked questions and her success in her current role. A call was made from her for everyone in business, not just females, to work together for a better future.
As Liz Maher put it on Twitter later
Thank you to both Liz and Sally.
If you were there at the event, we hope you enjoyed it.
