Chief Executives from South West and South Wales accredited Chambers of Commerce, enjoyed a tour of the Hinkley Point C construction site hosted by Jamie Driver the Local Supply Chain Engagement Manager for EDF Energy on Friday 3rd March. The tour was organised as part of the Hinkley Supply Chain and EDF Energy’s continued commitment to engage with businesses across the region. The visitors had an opportunity to view first-hand the scale and complexity of the project. They also spent time talking to Greg Parsons from Somerset Larder about how many local people they are employing and how much great local produce is being supplied to the workers. EDF Energy and the Somerset Chamber of Commerce helped support the creation of the Somerset Larder, a joint venture of local companies that has won the contract to feed the huge workforce needed to build the new power station.
Dale Edwards, Chief Executive of Somerset Chamber of Commerce commented “The site has transformed in a very short period of time demonstrating the excellent progress that has been made. It was great to catch up with my fellow South West Chamber CEO’s and we look forward to working with the respective Chambers to identify more opportunities for business across the region.”
