South Wales Chamber of Commerce member Best Western Heronston Hotel & Spa is celebrating triple awards success after being awarded both the Green Tourism Silver Award and the Investors in People Accreditation Award and now their Sous Chef Anthony Bush has been named as a Runner Up in the Chef of Wales 2017 Welsh International Culinary Championships.
Pictured are Anthony with his award and hotel General Manager Carolyn Powell with their Investors in People plaque displayed in reception.
Carolyn said “We were delighted to be awarded the Green Tourism Silver Award for our continued commitment to environmental issues as we have held the Bronze Award for some time. We have always considered ourselves to be a great employer and the Investors in People Accreditation confirms our commitment to high performance through good people management. Many of our staff have been with us for a long time and have developed their careers with us and we are pleased to get recognition for this as we understand that it is people that make the difference to any business. As a result of this we were thrilled when Anthony reached the finals of Chef of Wales 2017 held in north Wales in February. He really put the hotel’s name on the culinary map of Wales competing against the country’s top chefs from renowned establishments. He designed and prepared a 3 course menu to be cooked within 3 hours. We were so proud of him when we learned that he had been named as a runner up as it was the first time he had entered such a prestigious competition. There will be many people who now know the name of our hotel as a result.”
On the back of these awards and their continued success in recent years the hotel will be undergoing a major refurbishment this year incorporating all of their standard bedrooms and bathrooms to prepare for them for the busy years ahead.
